The short version

Posada Santa is a free tool for running a family or friends Secret Santa. There are no accounts and no ads, and we don't sell or share anything you enter.

What stays on your phone

• The organizer's list of people, phone numbers, couples, and the name draw are saved in that phone's browser storage, not on our servers.
• Game progress, outfits, and draft letters are saved on the device that's playing.

What we store on our servers

• Letters to Santa: when someone seals a letter, it's stored in an encoded form so the organizer's page can pick it up. Only the organizer's page, which holds a private key created on their phone, can read a group's letters. Letters are deleted automatically 120 days after they're sent.
• Game scores: the player name and score for a group's leaderboard. Anyone with that group's game link can see its board. Scores are deleted after 180 days.
• Group name: the name of the Secret Santa, so letters reach the right organizer.

Our database is hosted by Supabase and the site by Vercel. Their servers log ordinary technical data like IP addresses for security.

Messages

Invites, reminders, and piñata links are sent from your own phone through WhatsApp or text. We never send messages or see your contacts. If you use "Pick from contacts," the names and numbers you select go into your browser only.

Kids

The game is made to be family-friendly. We don't run ads, profile players, or collect anything from players besides the name they type and their scores. A parent or organizer should set up groups that include children.

Deleting things

Organizers can delete their Secret Santa from the Settings tab, which clears it from their phone. To have a group's letters or scores removed from our servers sooner, contact the organizer of the site.

Terms

Posada Santa is provided as-is, for personal, non-commercial gift exchanges. Please don't use it to collect information from people who haven't agreed to take part. We may change or retire features at any time.
